The Biller will be responsible for completing billing department tasks, including but not limited to, using coded data to produce and submit claims, working directly with insurance companies, healthcare providers, and patients to process claims, reviewing and appealing unpaid and denied claims, answering patient billing questions, and handling collections on unpaid accounts. Adheres to all federal, state and local laws and regulations related to healthcare and the Medical Practice including Safety, Infection Control, HIPAA and Compliance Program. Other duties may include:
  • Posts patient and insurance payments (including electronic posting).
  • Works primary and secondary claim denials
  • Files Medicare appeals and redeterminations
  • Processes accounts for collections
  • Prepares refunds
  • Performs end of day process
  • Answer phone calls and assists patients with questions
  • Documents all actions taken during the problem resolution process. Collaborates with other support team members and RCM/SCC staff as directed to deliver timely and satisfactory resolutions to reported problems
  • Escalates unresolved patient issues to the Billing Lead
  • Actively shares discovered solutions to reported problems with other team members, departmental leader and Revenue Cycle Director
  • Performs a variety of tasks as requested

Job Requirements:
  • 2 years experience in Medical Billing, prefer CPC or CBCS
  • Experience with Managed Care, Commercial and Government Payors, prefer knowledge of Managed Care capitation and Quality measures.
  • Thorough knowledge of CPT Codes – ICD-9 and ICD-10, Medical Terminology and healthcare regulation
  • Familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures within this field
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel and Word)
  • Strong attention to detail and task oriented
  • Excellent Customer Service skills, Interpersonal Skills and excellent Communication skills (oral and written)
  • Experience working with EMR, prefer experience with EClinical/Primary Care
  • Maintain 100% confidentiality relating to all patients, corporate, financial and proprietary information
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to collaborate with others
  • Ability to work effectively under stress
